I just finished Bioshock for the Xbox 360 and while I know it came out in, what, 2007? It doesn't hurt to play games that aren't new.

And I'm glad that I did. Let me just say, this game is brilliant, I can safely say that no other plot has affected me like Bioshock's has. The epic twist in the story line is shocking.

There is an element to gameplay where you are required to make choices, and what you decide can change the outcome of the entire game, what was that Ryan said? "A man chooses, a slave obeys." or was it "We all make choices in life, but in the end our choices make us".

There were two particular scare moments which made me yell or scream like a pansy, one of which proved to be a little more disturbing than I had hoped for- since I couldn't go to the kitchen without turning every light on in the house to get there. It was the moment in the Medical Area (If that's not already creepy enough, I hate needles.) where you walk into the room and on a distant wall you see the shadow of a splicer (the creatures who attack you in game) on a wall doing something to a corpse around the corner. So me trying to be a badass sneaky man I decided to try and walk slow toward him for a stealth kill...

Oh man was THAT a mistake.

As soon as I got close enough to the corner, close enough for the large shadow to loom over in front of me, right as I glimpsed around the bend the only fucking light in the room shut off and it was pitch black!

My mouth literally dropped open and was stuck that way for about five minutes. The lights turned on again and the shadow, nor the splicer were anywhere to be seen.. F'd up!

Now there were plenty of moments where I whispered to my self " What the fuck?!?!" because of a noise I had heard or some messed up artwork in the level with Mr. insane artist guy who makes you finish his "masterpiece", which involves taking photos of four people he has you kill and pasting them on his statues...When it's complete he walks down a large ballroom staircase with a spotlight on him as an invisible crowd cheers and he is overwhelmed with emotion.. I was disturbed.

Oh the other moment was when I walked into a room full of "corpses" only to find that when I walked past the bodies and turned around to get a reference of the room, all of them where standing up! That messed me up.

The splicers have dialogue which gives away their position most of the time, but if you take the time to listen to what they say, you'll find out some really crazy things.

It sort of reminded me of Left For Dead. When you hear the crying, you know there is a witch nearby.. Well, when you hear a splicer woman yelling at her baby, or abusive
husband, you know one is close by.

All in all, this game is so immersive and holds a fully realized world, if you have never played it, I would say you are missing out on one of the best video games ever made.

Developers can forget how important story can be - coughhalocough. But this game is like a gem and I am excited for Bioshock 2, though I haven't looked into anything about it yet.

"I am Andrew Ryan, and I'm here to ask you a question. Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? 'No!' says the man in Washington, 'It belongs to the poor.' 'No!' says the man in the Vatican, 'It belongs to God.' 'No!' says the man in Moscow, 'It belongs to everyone.' I rejected those answers; instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose... Rapture, a city where the artist would not fear the censor, where the scientist would not be bound by petty morality, Where the great would not be constrained by the small! And with the sweat of your brow, Rapture can become your city as well."
